ANOTHER CASE OF INJUSTICE & OPPRESSION AGAINST A NURSE BY HEAD OF NURSING DEPARTMENT, FEDERAL NEURO-PYSCHIATRIC HOSPITAL, MAIDUGURI, BORNO STATE

There’s a reported case at Federal Neuro Psychiatric Hospital Maiduguri between Nurse Umar Yusuf Walama and HOD nursing Department.”Nurse Hassan Usman (HOD)” Nurse Umar walama was made to go for 85 days night without rest and also denied his annual leave for the year 2020. His only crime is why did he question the HOD. NANNM and APNON refused to interfere in the case and the said nurse is depressed and even thinking of resigning. He’s at home sick and has lost all hope that justice will be done for him.

Walama has written to the management and NANNM local branch and also had discussed with borno state NANNM chairman.The state NANNM chairman is yet to act but local branch refused to do anything.

The head of clinicals of the hospital was informed and he called attention of both the HOD and Umar walama and addressed them. The HOD was even threatening walama infront of the head of clinicals that he won’t promote walama during the forthcoming promotion exercise but the head of clinicals adviced him to not do such thing. Walam left the office thinking it’s all over but it’s not.

We are now waiting for state NANNM to respond to his complaints.

  1. If the state NANNM is not ready to do the needful they better resign because we only voted them to protect the interest of the members not useless seminars and travels around which yielded nothing

  2. Its is not encouraging at all!
    Since over time now, nurses have taken over the social media space laying certain complaints on how they are being maltreated by their head of Department and what have you.
    If proper care is not taken this noble profession will end up having no reputation before other professional bodies.
    I have choose not to practice because of my encounter in Nigerian hospitals and this is one of them.

  3. I think the best is to hear from both parties, though no matter the questions; I think the HOD should have control his temper for him to act maturely.

  4. There’s need to check the HOD’s qualification,he doesn’t qualified to hold the office POSSIBLY!
