Senate President Moses Anya, President Fawole, Vice President Caleb, Sen. Grace, president Tahir, president Salman, Comrade Stanley , Comrade Idrissa, Comrade Kareem, Comrade Umar Shettima, all other leadership of Nursing union like NANMN, UGONSA , NANSNM , ANNSI , fellow Nunsaites and people of Nigeria – I greet you all.
I want to express my solidarity with all the Nunsaites across the nation that are grappling with challenges brought about by the pandemic. While celebrating our victory, the key features of NUNSA response to the pandemic under the Association is to “obliterate all divisions and distinctions amongst us and come together to try and convert the prevailing situation into an opportunity for accelerating our progress towards achieving the NUNSA mission and targets” and we’re going to put more efforts towards ensuring that no one is left behind.
We are deeply committed to building on existing efforts and undertake newer initiatives to accelerate progress in the Association for long term transformation. In this endeavour, Nunsaites experience and knowledge sharing is welcome as this will play a key role in actively fueling the progress of our dear Association.

Nunsa this year will undertake a paradigm shift in terms of embodying a “whole-of-society” approach and will engage with Nunsa zonal and local chapters, governmental, Non-governmental organizations, and private sectors in unification of spirits. As part of this process, NUNSA National chapter will partner with RHIA, EVA in Nigeria and other organizations to curate a consultative process which will favour the welfare and career development of the Nunsaites.

We the members of NUNSA have now joined a great national effort to rebuild our Association and restore its promise for all our people. Together we will determine the course of NUNSA for many, many years to come. Together we will face challenges. We will confront hardships. But we will get the job done.
Inauguration Speech By Nunsa President Sen Reiben Markus Zirahgi
Every year we gather on these steps to carry out the orderly and peaceful transfer of power, but unfortunately it couldn’t be as usual due to the covid-19 pandemic which makes it to be virtual. And we are grateful to President Fawole and the members of the legislative, and National executive council for their gracious aid throughout this transition. They have been magnificent, thank you.
Today’s ceremony, however, has very special meaning because today we are not merely transferring power from one administration to another – but transferring it from NUNSA National and giving it back to you the Nunsaites. Therefore, this moment is your moment. It belongs to everyone reading all across Nigeria today and the Nigerian Universities Nursing Students Association– is your Association. What truly matters is not what region controls our Association but that this Association is controlled by the Nunsaites.
Today, July 30th 2020, I take an oath of allegiance to all Nunsaites. We will restore back the lost glory of NUNSA as an individual who believes in the manifesto leadership, we will work closely with my fellow executive council members and all other Nunsaites to make sure that we provide a tangible project which are specific, measurable, achievable, reliable for the benefit of our Association. We will in collaboration with the government, politicians, NMCN, UGONSA/GNAN, NANNA, NANNM to initiate the start of nursing internship all over the nation in both accredited private and government owned hospital industries as officially approved by the Nigerian government by September, 2016.
We want to ensure the introduction of leadership/mentorship and professional training through free seminars, webinars, training and many more. And also ensure that NUNSITES become one of the frontline in achieving the SDG’s by 2030 the WHO,UN and ICN. We will enhance intraprofessional/interprofessional harmony, and introduce more open communication and goodwelfares democratically and paternalistically, and also put an end to the menace of quackery in the Profession.
We will work hand in hand with the chapters while prioritizing their welfare and further improve the accountability of the association, and work to support Nursing students who have been assaulted in any way or the other during clinical posting by anyone. We will in collaboration with the nursing bodies upgrade the educational standard Bachelor in Nursing Bachelor in Midwifery (NBBM) across Nigerian universities offering nursing science, and also ensure gender equality among Nunsaites.
NUNSA will keep winning like never before. We will bring back our lost glory, we will bring back our unity, we will bring back our wealth, we will bring back our dreams. We will further introduce the Association to the new Nursing department in other institutions to carry everyone along.
Finally, we must think big and dream even bigger. As Nunsaites, we know we live as an association only when it is striving. We will no longer accept politicians or Nunsaites who are always complaining but never doing anything about it. The time for empty talk is over, the hour of action begins. Do not allow anyone to tell you it cannot be done. No challenge can match the strength and spirit of NUNSA. We will not fail, our Association will thrive and prosper again. It’s time to remember the old wisdom our stakeholders held upon, that whether we are northerners or Southerners or Easterners or westerners, we all bleed the same red blood of patriots. We all look at the same night sky, and dream the same dreams. As I always said and I quote “No Nunsaite is more Nunsaite than any other Nunsaite”.
So to all Nunsaites in every Community near and far, small and large, from state to state, from zone to zone– hear these words – you will never be ignored again. Your voice, your hopes and dreams will define your NUNSA and Nursing destiny. Your courage, goodness and love will forever guide us along the way.
Together we will make NUNSA strong again, we will make NUNSA wealthy again, we will make NUNSA safe again and yes – together we will make NUNSA great again.
Thank you.
LongLive Nunsaites.
