Have you noticed that many nurses skip the
introduction part of establishing a nurse-patient relationship on resuming their shift?
When you meet a new patient, you should introduce yourself. But for many of us , it is easier said than done , especially the introverts , but you can not run away from meeting new people as a nurse .
Having considered some issues and challenges faced by nurses in nigeria and how the public misunderstands their actions to mean evil almost all time , a smart way to start a great shift with patients is INTRODUCTION and you should make a good impression to help the patient feel comfortable & trust you.
It works like magic, the loggerhead from
misunderstanding will reduce when we do it right.
In this part of the world, many patients and relatives stereotype nurses from preconceived ideas seen on home movie ,hearsay or past experience,they come to the hospital prepared for the worst from nurses and not the best .

So therefore,in the beginning of the therapeutic
relationship,the NURSE and PATIENTS are strangers, yet each patient has preconceptions of what to expect from us ,based on previous experiences& attitudes .PLS INTRODUCE!!!
