“`Year after year, most scholarships meant for students studying medical and health related courses in Nigerian tertiary institutions keep passing by most nursing students. Why? No concrete reason.
On the eligibility page of these scholarship boards, colleagues in other departments related to medical science are eligible to apply (such as anatomy, physiology, community medicine, MEDSURG, Medical Microbiology, Dentistry, Medical Biochemistry, etc) but nursing is mostly nowhere to be found.“`

AN EXAMPLE OF SUCH SCHOLARSHIP GOING ON IS THE ONGOING NNPC/CHEVRON/AGBAMI SCHOLARSHIP

in which Medical Students can apply and Nursing is expressly exempted once again.
“`I think we (Nursing Students) as well as our Senior Colleagues who’re now serving nurses and are holding one capacity or the other have to make moves and address the need for inclusion of Students of Nursing Sciences to be eligible for scholarships that include every other departments in medical sciences.
READ THIS: THE REFORM NANNM NOW AGITATION.
The marginalization should come to a halt.
Even if it means the Leadership of NUNSA dialoging with UGONSA and NANNM as Parent groups to petition companies giving out scholarship to involve nursing science. We are the backbone of healthcare and I don’t see why we should not be considered for scholarships especially those in universities.“`
“`If it requires us sending letters and scheduling visits to the human resource depts or any other department responsible for awarding scholarships, then so be it.“`
“`Only promoting awareness, consultations, consolidation and confrontation of these institutions would lead to a change. The best time to make that change is NOW.`
This isn’t the job of only NUNSA Executives. It’s the job of each and every Nunsite. If you have connections to politicians, elder statesmen, top government officials, top members of these companies, make use of that connection to aid your profession and your colleagues. If you can’t use that connection, please pass that connection you have to any NUNSA executive in your school who’ll inform the National Executives and they’ll work on that…
How can ₦250,000 and above be bypassing qualified nursing students every year? Haba. Who we offend? Na we make Nigeria bad? 😹😹😹
I done vex. I go soon comot person teeth now.
Hoping to see the Best for Nigerian Nursing very soon.
Thank you
