Some individuals are ignorant of the accreditation of their course of study. This is unwise as such individuals may become unfortunate while regretting their actions or inaction rather. Below is a list of Accredited Schools of Nursing In Ekiti State.

The ministry of education has made efforts to eradicate erring Institutions and Varsities in the nation, yet some of them continue to thrive.

It is of no use being a student of an accredited department or tertiary institution. Yes, no knowledge is a waste, but it is generally agreed that the time you would spend learning when you cannot practice what you have learned is not time well spent.

It is even devastating for a person who is in the final year before a course becomes accredited in his or her Institution, as such individuals would have to start over or pause their admission to wait for the current students in the first year before they can obtain a certificate of practice. The other option left for such victims is to drop out and start over again; but either way, both options are none the wiser.

With the current economic state of the country, no one wants their money going into something they cannot account for; you may have to raise your brows when it comes to non-refundable fees. Many have spent their time, efforts and money, on tuition fees and other necessities, only to discover that their institution was not accredited – Do not be a victim of such circumstances.

This post contains a list of accredited schools of Basic and post-Basic nursing education and Midwifery in Ekiti state. Any school of Nursing not on this list, but in the state may have had their accreditation withdrawn and thus non-functional.

The following are the accredited Nursing and Midwifery schools in Ekiti State:

  1. School of Nursing, Ado-Ekiti
  2. School of Post Basic, Midwifery Ado-Ekiti
  3. Department Of Nursing, Afe Babalola University, Ekiti (ABUAD)

It is not enough to be a professional health care personnel, without certification from an accredited Tertiary institution to prove your stance. Optimal Nursing education is achievable in an institution of higher learning that roots a foundation for general education in not just nursing, but a knowledge in the various sciences and Humanities.

School of Nursing, Ado-Ekiti

The School of Nursing, Ado-Ekiti is under provincial accreditation by the National Council of Nursing and Midwifery in Nigeria.

The basic program spans a minimum of three years, after which the students become qualified as registered Nurse (RN). Interested applicants can further proceed with the Midwifery studies in the same Institution, where he or they can obtain a certificate of Registered Midwife (RM). You can alternatively forge ahead to obtain a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN).

To be eligible to participate in this program, candidates must reach the following requirements

  • A minimum of five Credit passes in WASSCE/NECO/NABTEB in not more than two sittings of English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. Candidates must be up to 17 years by the time of application.

  • Testimonial from Previous School(s)
  • Certificate of Local Government Identification.

School of Post Basic, Midwifery Ado-Ekiti

The School of Post Basic Midwifery Ado-Ekiti Academic program ribs for three years, and has a provincial accreditation.

The Institution admits applicants into their general nursing program, with a minimum of 5 Credits in their O’level examinations, including English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, biology, and any other approved Science subjects. The examination should be in not more than two sittings. Students obtain certification as Registered Nurses (RN) on completion of this program.

For the Post Basic Nursing Midwifery Programme, the candidate must be a Registered Nurse, with five O’level Credits in not more than two sittings and must also reach all the standard institutional Requirements. The training duration lasts for two calendar years. On completion of the program, candidates receive the certificate of Registered Midwife (RM)

Department Of Nursing, Afe Babalola University, Ekiti (ABUAD)

ABUAD is a great institution of learning, shaped by the visions and foresight of the founders. The establishment of the University was a product of conglomerated factors with a large expanse garnered by the personal experiences of the founders in the acquisition of his academic qualifications, the deteriorated state of the nation’s educational system, and search for contributions and private participation in the nation’s educational sector.

The B.N.Sc. the program was instituted in ABUAD in response to the nation’s needs to produce highly skilled nurses with practical knowledge in scientific research on human health.

The philosophy of the Nursing profession recognizes the Nigerian’s philosophy of education.

By the end of the B.N.Sc. the program, the students are expected to conceptualize principles from the biological, physical, social, and nursing science, when providing healthcare to individuals, families, groups, and communities.

The nurses should be able to function effectively while working independently or in a group.

Candidates must have reached the prescribed minimum requirements for admission into the Nursing degree program of the Institution. This encompasses five credit passes in the Senior School Certificate examinations in English  Language, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, and any one of Economics, Geography, and Agric Science in one sitting.
