WAKE-UP CALL FOR BOTH THE NURSES AND THE PUBLIC
QUESTION OF THE DAY TO NURSES REGARDING NEGATIVE RESPONSES OF PUBLIC TO THE RECENT ASSAULT INCIDENT BY A SOLDIER.
Are we sure some set of people are not disguising in our image to fight and insult patients and their relatives which at last turn to fall on us thereby tarnishing the image of our profession?
I am not saying all Nurses are saints but I am sure that the Majority of Nurses are good and it only takes a good heart to care for sick and injured people both within and outside the hospital so, therefore, Nurses need to be appreciated for their good and caring work.
To Nurses:
I always admit that I am a Nurse and try to make the public aware that I am a Nurse and give in the best as enshrined in our ethics, when we answer some peoples title other than ours which is “Nurse”, others will answer ours which is more peculiar but we have shunned it and feel inferior when addressed as a Nurse thereby doing what is negative and mislead the public in their perception towards us not knowing that those set of people are not Nurses.

To Public:
Sometime back I made a post regarding the patient’s bill of rights defending the patient, on how they are expected to be cared for and despite that rights, it doesn’t warrant patient relatives to be aggressive to Nurses or other healthcare workers while seeking healthcare, I am sure manners make people and can make a lot of sense and impact in seeking care as a client. Communication is always in two ways; Decoding and Encoding. So it involves both the client and Nurses e.g the way the client decodes it and the way the Nurse encodes it.
Emphasis:
NB//No Nurse has the right to shout at you while seeking healthcare it’s totally against our ethics, but the manners we approach Nurses matters too. And not all people in white are Nurses, Nurses do love and care for all. When someone shouted at you in the hospital the person might not be a Nurse and if you are sure the person is a Nurse, report him/her to the necessary authority for proper action.
